Running the Survey
The new Cedars Assisting Living Facility was to be located between an existing long-term care facility and a high school. With safety concerns on both sides of the project, the Hutton team developed a plan to maintain a safe environment for the residents and students. Our early contributions in the site layout and planning allowed for a smooth construction process.
Laying the Foundation
With limited space for material staging and laydown, Hutton was able to have deliveries scheduled just in time to reduce the need for additional space. This allowed both the school and long-term care facility access to their facilities without creating any safety concerns. Residents of the long-term care facility enjoyed watching the construction process, and we were able to designate an area for them to view the progress and not be in harm's way.
The Finishing Touches
The floor plan was developed with a neighborhood apartment concept in mind. Each neighborhood area had unique finishes and a skylight. Commercial construction materials were used, but made to look more like a residential home. An example is the hollow metal door frames were wrapped in wood casing to give the appearance of a residential style door frame. This allowed The Cedars to have the longevity of commercial materials yet let residents feel completely at home.
