Running the Survey

Schowalter Villa wanted to add apartment-style living and a new focal point to its very successful retirement community. The result is a warm and inviting apartment complex with all the amenities of home. Each one- and two-bedroom apartment features a distinctive front door and porch area. Garages are available for residents who desire them. In the same building, residents have access to a full-service restaurant, exercise and wellness center, craft rooms, meeting rooms, and a pool that the whole community, as well as the city of Hesston and surrounding area, can enjoy.

Laying the Foundation

Hutton Construction worked diligently with all parties to provide unique and sensible solutions to challenges that arose during the project. We worked with pool designers to make the pool fully accessible to the elderly, but ensure that it also accommodates swimming lessons for kids in the community. We also worked closely with designers and subcontractors to provide a dimming system for meeting rooms that was affordable and provided the multifunctional use desired for the space. Years later, we coordinated a project to replace paving that had prematurely deteriorated because of a reaction with the aggregate used in the concrete.

The Finishing Touches

The end product is a warm and convenient living space along with a community center that everyone can be proud of. The restaurant is still the place to go for Sunday brunch or an evening out. This project provides convenient urban living with the country feel that the owner sought. The facility also serves as the front door to a vibrant retirement and rural community.
