Running the Survey
Expansion of a product line calls for enlargement in production space. Learjet experienced the need for more plant space to accommodate the growth of its Learjet 85 jet line. The Hutton team was asked to serve as a design builder for the expansion of an existing steel building. The result is a smooth, clean, bright space, symbolic of the pristine aircraft.
Laying the Foundation
We were involved from the start as design builder. The contract was signed, designs were drawn and site work began all within the first month. The entire expansion was completed in five months, which, in the case of a traditional bid project, is shorter than the typical design time itself. BIM technology was used throughout the design phase to create a 3D image of the building. This image is very helpful as it will show any intersection of systems, structures or materials before they are put into place, saving time and cost.
The Finishing Touches
Reputation, regard and distinction are things that Learjet is known for. The crisp white floor, walls and ceiling of the Learjet 85 expansion are indicative of the presentation of this prestigious product. Hutton, the architect, owner and subcontractors all proceeded together with the same goals in mind. Communication from start to finish is the key to every successful project.
