Running the Survey
When The Halstead Bank decided to build its fourth branch in the 126 years it has been in business, bank officers knew it had to be special. To be located in the growing Northwest area of Wichita, it needed to represent that strong and long history of the bank while at the same time showing their forward thinking. Early in the design process we forged a partnership among the bank, its architect and the Hutton team. Just a few months later, after much planning, budgeting and scheduling, we were ready to break ground on what would become a masterpiece.
Laying the Foundation
Construction of the building was like a carefully choreographed dance. With multiple different structural systems – steel, load-bearing CMU, wood framing and a precast vault – there was a lot of coordination and cooperation between the trades. Thanks to some up-front work we did with computer modeling, we were able to virtually build the project on the computer before we stepped foot on site, heading off potential issues before they became costly problems. When it came time to put the finishing touches on the inside, our best craftsmen spent weeks installing the quarter-sawn cherry doors, trim and millwork.
The Finishing Touches
The completion of this project brought a great deal of pride to the entire project team. The Halstead Bank has a beautiful facility that will last for decades, and both Hutton Construction and the project architect won awards for the building, a testament to the hard work put in by all.
