Being recognized for a job well done is always nice. Being recognized by your industry peers is particularly great! Each year at the annual convention for the Kansas chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America the organization gives awards for successful projects. In order to be considered, contractors must submit pictures and write-ups detailing the challenging aspects of the project and how they were overcome.

This year we were grateful to receive Awards of Honor for three different projects!

South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center – New Facility

This project consisted of a brand new 60,000sf Hospital facility. We were hired by Arkansas City and the Hospital Board to design and build this new facility on a tight budget. The facility turned out beautiful and will be an asset for the community for years to come.

USD 487 – Herington Elementary

Just take a quick walk through the new elementary school we completed for USD 487 and you will see how highly they value education in their community. A stunning design and durable materials make this school stand out. In addition, throughout the school you can find visual references to the historical importance of the railroad to the City of Herington.

Mitchel County Hospital Health System – Addition and Remodel

Working with the Mitchell County Hospital and Designers from Health Facilities Group architects we completed a patient room addition and remodeled the cafeteria and long-term care portions of the facility. All throughout the project our site leadership worked closely with the hospital staff to ensure that the construction activities has as little impact on the hospital operations and patient care environment as possible.

It’s sad but true, innovation in the construction field has been very slow and nearly nonexistent. It wasn’t until just a few years ago that companies started looking at how technology or new products could increase productivity, increase quality, or decrease the cost of commercial construction projects. I believe that over the next few years the way buildings are built is going to change dramatically. Given pressures from increasing material costs, decreasing skilled labor pools, and shorter and shorter construction schedules, companies are going to have no choice in the matter.

To me this is exciting. We have an opportunity as a company, as well as just participants in the commercial construction arena, to be a part of re-shaping an industry. To re-imagine how projects are conceived, planned, designed, bought, and built. To bring game changing value to projects and their owners through root level collaboration between all the players that help make today’s complex structures a reality. Just think of all the opportunities!

Just to give you a peek into what our future might hold check out this video of helicopters autonomously assembling a structure from blueprints stored in their memory, it’s amazing!

Check out the video:

What do you think will be different about the way we build things 10 years from now? What is stopping us from doing that today? Let’s discuss it in the comments section below.

It was a wonderful occasion this past Sunday afternoon in Marion, KS. From 1-5 PM residents toured and admired their newly renovated hospital. The town has much to be proud of; the results of the $5.2 Million dollar renovation are stunning. On this 17 month project we worked hand in hand with the hospital staff and project architect Greg Tice from SPT Architecture to build an addition that blends in seamlessly with the old structure and remodel the existing space to bring it up to current healthcare standards. From a brand new entry to the updated surgical areas, nearly the entire hospital has been refreshed. Add to the fresh look and new space an updated heating and air system and St. Luke Hospital has positioned itself to be the provider of choice for first class healthcare in the Marion area for many years to come. Congratulations on your new facility!

You’re looking at one of our most important projects ever. Over the years we have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of wonderful clients on countless magnificent projects. Each one of those projects was special, and we gave them the special attention they deserved. Recently we decided it was time to spend some time on us and how we present Hutton Construction to our community, and now as we unveil our new brand you can see the fruits of our labor. We’ve built our brand the way we built everything with the Hutton name on it. Planning to the last detail. Giving it everything we’ve got.

Our new logo and tagline represent what we stand for. Collaboration. Planning. Execution. Grand Vision. While these are nice sounding words, they are more than that to us, they are our culture. They’re what we’re made of.

I hope you’ll take some time to explore our site. There is a lot here about who we are and what we believe. Like all the buildings and projects that have come before it, after all the work and special attention we’ve given to this project we’re proud of it.

Also, make sure you take a moment to sign up for email notifications on our blog posts. We will be sharing many different things relevant to our business, industry, and city as well as business in general that I think you will find interesting.
