Mark Hutton
Founder - mhutton@huttonconstruction.com
Our founder didn’t waste any time getting into the construction business. He started just out of high school trimming houses, so Construction Science at K-State came as natural as sitting on a tailgate, cheering the Wildcats. After graduation he went to work for one of the bigger outfits in Wichita and stayed for 15 years. Dreams of his own company provided the drive.
He found out early that relationships are the most important material in a project. A three-year-long multistory downtown office building remodel instilled his passion for customer service. It’s still his favorite part of any job. But he continues to contribute to the industry as a whole. He’s always believed that a strong network and a devotion to collaboration improve the business for everybody. He stays involved with the Associated General Contractors of Kansas, Wichita Chamber of Commerce and Youth Horizons. “I enjoy being able to contribute to our community and industry and believe strongly that it’s a responsibly.”
Family plus faith is a strong underlying theme at the company Mark founded, probably owing to his influence. On this topic he is unequivocal: “We encourage our employees to put their faith and family above this company, believing that will ultimately lead to happier and more productive employees.” His wife, Mary, and his sons, Ben and Brian, have been the key people behind the leader. Mark’s dad, Ed Hutton, has been essential to the company’s success right from the start and still is today.
The Hutton boys can tell you that there’s almost nothing their dad would rather be doing than shaping a fine piece of oak in his woodshop. Not surprising for a guy whose greatest influences are the Craftsman and Prairie Styles.
